Evan Knill
Counseling Intern

My name is Evan Knill, and I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, specializing in trauma. My aspiration is to become a licensed professional counselor dedicated to guiding individuals through life's challenges.
Before embarking on this career path, my wife and I spent many summers co-directing a youth summer camp in northern Michigan. This experience deepened our understanding of our calling to help others, reinforcing my commitment to this field.
My family resides in Port Huron, Michigan, where my wife and I are proud parents to three wonderful children: a spirited three-year-old daughter and two newborn twin boys. We are passionate about fostering a loving environment for our children, instilling values of empathy and acceptance regardless of faith, beliefs, or backgrounds. These principles resonate deeply with me and align with my humanistic approach to counseling.
I am particularly interested in utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and its various branches. My goal is to equip individuals with techniques that enhance self-awareness, promote mindfulness regarding their nervous systems, and develop healthy coping mechanisms and stress management strategies. Trauma affects us all, and I believe that with the right support, we can learn to process it and navigate our lives more effectively.
I am grateful for the journey that has brought me here, and I look forward to learning and growing alongside the team at Renewal Christian Counseling.
