About Amanda

Things we can help with

You may feel worn down by meltdowns, defiance, emotional swings, or a child who seems different than they used to be. Maybe a divorce, trauma, loss, or major transition changed the rhythm of your home, and now even ordinary moments feel loaded. When you are trying hard to help and nothing seems to settle, it can leave you feeling helpless, frustrated, and deeply sad for your child.

I work with children and families from that place. I want to understand not only what the behavior looks like on the surface, but what may be happening underneath it. Anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, grief, family disruption, and behavioral struggles can all show up in ways that are confusing for both children and the adults who love them. My role is to help make those patterns more understandable and to give your child and family tools that actually fit their needs.

My approach is flexible and child-centered. Depending on what will serve your child best, I may draw from play therapy, storytelling, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy principles. I want therapy to feel like a place where children can express what they have not yet learned how to say directly, and where parents can feel more equipped to respond with wisdom, steadiness, and hope.

This work is personal to me. I care deeply about vulnerable children and families, and I bring both professional training and empathy shaped by my own mental health journey. I believe people are more than what happened to them, and I want the counseling space to help children grow in resilience rather than feel defined by their hardest experiences.

Because faith matters deeply to many families, I also welcome it as part of the work when that is meaningful to you. I enjoy integrating biblical principles alongside sound therapeutic care in a way that supports renewal of the mind without forcing spiritual language where it is not wanted. My goal is to honor both the clinical needs in front of us and the deeper values that shape how your family understands healing.

Professional Background:

I am a Limited Licensed Master Social Worker and earned my MSW from Wayne State University in 2023. My clinical experience includes working with children and families facing anxiety, depression, ADHD, ODD, PTSD, trauma, and behavioral issues. I also have volunteer experience serving vulnerable children locally and internationally, including work connected to foster care support, children's programming, and Youth With A Mission in South Africa.

If you are tired of feeling stuck in the same painful patterns with your child, I would love to help you understand what is happening more clearly and begin building a path toward greater peace, resilience, and connection in your family.

About Renewal

About Renewal

At Renewal Christian Counseling Center, we help restore what life has broken. For more than 25 years, we have cared for children, teens, adults, couples, and families through compassionate, clinically excellent mental health and substance use services.

As a CARF-accredited outpatient counseling center, we offer evidence-based care through a team of master’s- and doctoral-level clinicians. Every treatment plan is personalized, thoughtful, and built around the belief that healing is possible.

We practice Person-Centered Planning, which means your goals, your values, and your voice help shape the counseling process. We come alongside you with care that is tailored, respectful, and centered on the kind of growth you want to pursue.

Renewal is authentically Christian, though not affiliated with any one church or denomination. Faith can be part of the counseling process for those who want it, and every person is welcomed with respect, compassion, and dignity.
