Renee Place

Renee Place is a Licensed Social Worker (LMSW). She received her Master’s of Social Work from Ferris State University in 2018. She has approximately 10 years of experience between camp, residential, and outpatient medical offices. Renee most recently spent two years as a global worker in the country of Estonia, where she learned an incredible amount about ministering to people cross-culturally, and navigating life transitions. All these environments combined have taught Renee the importance of incorporating faith into a holistic treatment approach.

Renee's career has been spent working with diverse populations in a variety of settings. She has worked directly with youth and families who experienced trauma. This included youth ages 8-17 who were receiving DHHS services related to abuse/neglect, the juvenile justice system, adoption subsidy, or aging out of foster care. She also has completed interdisciplinary assessments with youth in the residential setting, as well as providing individual, group, family, and experiential therapy; crisis management, and case management. In the medical setting, Renee presented a collaborative approach to outpatient therapy, medication management, and psychoeducation to individuals between the ages of 12 and 90 years old. She worked alongside psychiatric and various medical personnel to monitor potential side effects while providing short-term, solution-focused interventions.

In addition to maintaining a lens of trauma-informed care, Renee is skilled in working with individuals experiencing grief and loss, battling anxiety, facing significant life transitions, establishing healthy boundaries, learning coping skills, adjusting to medical diagnoses, and more. She is also interested in women’s issues, navigating neurodivergence, and care of global workers. She feels it is incredibly important to collaborate both with clients themselves, as well as with service providers when appropriate, to provide the most well-rounded, effective care. Renee also believes that it is a true honor and privilege to walk through some of life’s most challenging circumstances and greatest joys with you!
